One of the most common questions we are asked is “How can I resize a photo?  It takes too long to send or upload.”  Modern cameras often take photos which are large in file size – usually 1.5 Mb or more.  Because of that, trying to send multiple photos from a computer can be time consuming even at fast Internet speeds.  For most of what we do on the Internet, we don’t really need photos with all the pixels available.  So, unless you are sending a photo to an artist or a photographer and he or she is going to need all the pixels, you can save time and space by resizing a photo.  Resizing is done my compressing pixels and eliminating unneeded layers.

The good news is that there are two easy-to-use programs (one for Mac computers, one for Windows PCs) that will make resizing photos easy.  The better news is that they are both free.

If you use Mac, navigate to: https://imageoptim.com/mac and download and install ImageOptim.  If you use  Windows, visit: http://www.bricelam.net/ImageResizer/ to download and install Image Resize For Windows.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in a comment and we’ll get back to you.
