Not A Fun Tuesday

Bad Day


One would think today was Monday with all that went wrong in the computer world.  I guess it’s encouraging that it’s actually Tuesday but it was still a very rough day.  Here’s what happened:



This morning, customers started to log into our Remote Technical Support ( because they could not log into their AOL Email in a browser. None of the popular browsers would load the AOL email – not Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Opera.  They all reported an error in loading the mail and gave suggestions as to how to fix it.  (None of those suggestions worked.)  We tested the AOL Mail on our end and we couldn’t get in either; so, it was definitely an AOL issue.  Most customers could get to their email on their smartphones or their tablets, just not through a browser.  By early afternoon, the issue seemed to be resolved.  If it’s not resolved for you, let us know tomorrow.



We love Vipre Anti-virus. We have it installed on all of our Windows machines and hundreds of our customers have purchased it because of our recommendation.  This morning, though, a definition update went wrong and customers started to report small windows appearing on their computers indicating that there was an issue with Vipre.  In some cases, the problem actually kept customers from getting to various websites.  We also got the message on our computers and if we tried to open Vipre, it failed to open.  We contacted Vipre Support and they responded that they were aware of the issue and working on a fix.  This is still the case as of 5:45 p.m. today.  We did a test on one customer’s computer and on one of ours.  The results:  we discovered that if we totally removed Vipre (Repair did not fix the issue), rebooted and then reinstalled Vipre, the issue seemed resolved.

If you are experiencing this problem, please check back with us tomorrow and if Vipre Support doesn’t have an easier fix, we will remove and reinstall Vipre.


Windows 10

The recent Windows 10 Update issue – where the computer goes through Start Up Repair and then fails to load, continued today.  We are now up to about 30 customers who have had this problem.  We’ve had a few of them whose computers, when we tried the System Restore repair, still didn’t work and we were forced to go deeper into repairing the issue.  In some cases, the hard drive itself failed and we’ve had to schedule them for replacement.  If this same problem happens to your computer, please call us at 772-408-4425 anytime after we open at 9:00 a.m.  Interestingly enough, none of our computers so far have experienced this problem.



We love computers but days like this make us wonder!
