A few days ago, Microsoft began rolling out a new feature in Windows 10. It’s called “News and Interests” and it appears on the right-hand side of the taskbar, when it’s located at the bottom of the screen. (See photo above.) The purpose of this new feature is to give you a quick view of the news and your own interests without you having to go to a variety of web pages. You can get a brief look at the weather, traffic, sports, news and other areas of interest. If something catches your eye and you want more than a snapshot of the information, you simply click on it and you’ll get the full scoop.
By the way, you’re not stuck with the news and interests that Microsoft chooses for you. By clicking on the “Manage interests” option in the upper right-hand corner of the feature’s screen, you can choose what you want. That selection page looks something like this:
I’ve been using this feature in the developer’s version of Windows 10 for some time now and I’ve found it very useful. I think you might feel the same once you get to try it. Oh, please note that Microsoft will be rolling this feature out over a period of time. Even multiple Windows 10 machines in the same household may get the feature weeks apart. Currently, there’s nowhere you can go to download it manually, so just be on the lookout for it to appear in your taskbar.
