Seminar 09-11-2021

Time for review of our seminar 09-11-2021

Thanks For Attending!

Thank you so much for coming to our first seminar in 19 months! It was awesome to see you and everyone who attended. You were one of 15 which is fewer than normal but more than I expected this first time out! The pandemic is a pain, isn’t it?

On this page, I’ll review what we went over. Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions.

9-11

Although we didn’t really relate the computer to 9-11, we did acknowledge that this day marked the 20th anniversary of that tragic event. God bless America!

The 4KCC Website and YouTube

Blog Post Email

As I mentioned, The Question of the Week email is no more. However, I do have the blog posts where I cover a cornucopia of computing-related subjects and equipment. If you aren’t already signed up for the blog post emails (normally two emails a week, each with 2 posts), please sign up by using the form in the right-hand column of this page. Or, you can click HERE. When you sign up, you will receive an email asking you to confirm that you want to receive the email. If you don’t see the confirmation email, be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder.

YouTube Channel

I also related to you how I’ve moved to creating videos since I often get asked the same questions multiple times by different people. My video selection varies and covers computers, tablets, smart phones, printers and much more. I strongly urge you to subscribe to my channel, if you haven’t already. Also, if you can “Like” my videos and leave comments, that really helps with me Google Search. Instead of emailing me a nice comment, I respectfully ask that you comment under the video instead.

You do need to know this: you can only “Like,” “Subscribe” or comment if you have a Google account. (By the way, a Gmail account and a Google account are the same thing.) If you have an Android device, you already have a Gmail account, even if you aren’t using it. If you’d like to help me on YouTube and don’t have a Gmail account, it’s easy to sign up and it’s free! You can just get started HERE.

If you’re not sure how to subscribe, I have a video which explains that! You’ll find it here:

Join Our Community

I’m trying a new feature to help with communication between you and 4KCC. It’s called the 4KCC Community. If you use a smart phone and are comfortable with receiving and sending text messages, then I encourage you to try this. On your phone, send a text with any message you want (“Hi,” “Hello,” whatever) to 772-293-7945. You’ll receive a message back asking you to confirm you want to join the Community.

This Community will be used to send security warnings, let you know when the next seminar will happen and other computing-related messages. You, in turn, will be able to text me, as well!

Again, this is a trial feature and your participation will make or break it! Thanks for trying it!

Windows 11 Being Released October 5, 2021

I shared that Windows 11 is coming out on October 5, 2021. I mentioned that the upgrade from Windows 10 will not be pushed out. Instead, you’ll have the option to see if your computer is upgradeable. Additionally, you’ll be able to say yes or no to the upgrade.

I suggested to you that when the time comes, you should allow us to help you with the decision. There really is no rush to upgrade since Microsoft will continue with Windows 10 updates for quite some time.

Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! is coming to Port Saint Lucie High School where Joyce is the music director. Tickets should be going on sale sometime in November. The show will run from January 26, 2022, through February 6, 2022. Exact dates and times will be announced when the tickets go on sale. We hope to see you for the show!

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15

You may recall, I demonstrated iPadOS 15 with my iPad on the screen. I showed how to use a split screen to have two apps side by side. Next, I shared my favorite new feature – Quick Notes. I presented widgets on the iPad with you, as well.

I indicated that I expected iPadOS 15 and iOS 15 to be available to everyone after Apple’s online event on September 14, 2021. By the way, look for a YouTube video in the near future covering iPadOS 15 and iOS 15.

Browser Passwords

Despite what Microsoft and Google tell you, saving passwords in your browser is no longer a good idea. If you haven’t seen it already, please watch my video on this subject:

3 Important Videos

Finishing up the seminar, I talked about three important videos of mine. You really need to watch all three of them.

Fake Emails – Become A Detective

There has been some great feedback on this video and I encourage you to become a detective!

Account Recovery Methods

There are few things more frustrating than forgetting your password for a particular account. However, one of the more aggravating issues is when your recovery information is no longer current. Watch this video to see what I’m talking about:

Scam Pop-ups And Phone Calls

This is my oldest video on YouTube yet people are still becoming victims. Microsoft, Apple, Amazon – they never call you out of the blue. Also, they never cause pop-ups on your computer which attempt to panic you into calling some phone number. Even if you’ve seen this video before, it’s worth reviewing:

If you’d like to review the PowerPoint presentation I used, you’ll find it in PDF format HERE.

Next Seminar

Our next seminar is scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2021. The subject is, “United American Bank in Knoxville, Tennessee Started It!” You will find all the information you need HERE.

Joyce and I hope to see you there!
