“In September of 2017, Equifax announced it experienced a data breach, which impacted the personal information of approximately 147 million people. A federal court is considering a proposed class action settlement submitted on July 22, 2019, that, if approved by the Court, would resolve lawsuits brought by consumers after the data breach.” That’s a quote directly from the Equifax Data Breach Settlement page. (You can reach the page by clicking the picture above.) If you were affected by the data breach, you may be eligible for credit monitoring and\/or cash. Of course, the proposed settlement has to be approved by the courts and any monetary settlement amount will depend on the number of people joining the class action suit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not sure if you were affected by the 2017 data breach? No problem, just visit the settlement page (again, by clicking the picture above), scroll down and click on “Find Out If Your Information Was Impacted.” The window which opens will ask for your last name and the last 6 digits of your Social Security number. Once you submit that information, if you were affected, you’ll see “Submit A Claim.” Click on that and submit your claim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, this proposed settlement has to be approved by the courts but you need to get in on the class action suit if you were affected by the breach. As for how much time you have to file a claim, you’ll find all that info on the settlement page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
