Like many fields – think medical, legal, real estate – the computing world has lots of terminology which can be foreign to our normal thinking and even have double meanings. When we don’t understand the terms being used, it causes loss of time, frustration and, sometimes, complete confusion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We see this all the time in Remote Technical Support<\/a><\/strong> and on the phone. When we’re trying to help someone, we often lose valuable time (both theirs and ours) because we are being led down the wrong path because of incorrect terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this in mind, over the next few weeks, I’m going to take a particular computing device or software and share definitions so we are all using the correct words. Today, I’m going to start with an area of a Windows desktop computer, all-in-one or laptop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
