The Life Of Riley

Our Cairn Terrier, Gus, in our back yard

A great majority of the readers of this blog are pet lovers. If you happen to attend our live seminars or follow me on Social Media, you probably recognize our Cairn Terrier, Gus, in the picture above. He is just five years old and he is a character. He’s funny, very smart, protective, just a little bit crazy and absolutely one of the family. He is also loving. He’s gives love like most dogs and cats do (if they’re not trained to do otherwise) unconditionally. Gus is excited to see us when we arrive home whether we’ve been gone for hours or just a few minutes. If we’re having a not-so-good-day, we can always depend on Gus to cheer us up with his affection and antics. If one of us is under the weather or hurt, he senses that and reacts with even more caring than usual.

If you own a dog or cat, you understand our affection for Gus and you probably get the title of this post. (If not, you might want to read THIS.) Still, you might be wondering why I’m writing about our dog in a computer-related blog post. Nice wondering!

Another benefit of the Internet and the Computer Age is how you have so many more resources that relate to your pets. For instance, here are just some of the things you can do online when it comes to your dog or cat:

  • Find someone selling the breed of dog or cat you want and view pictures, get information and eventually purchase the pet, if you so desire.
  • Make appointments with your Vet for your pet’s yearly checkup or for office visits when your dog or cat is under the weather.
  • Purchase flea and tick medicine at a discount from reputable companies online.
  • Schedule grooming appointments.
  • Search for a Vet and read reviews. This is especially important if you are out of town with your pet and have a issue. We’ve experienced this ourselves on a trip to visit our kids in New Jersey.
  • Search for information regarding your pet’s health so you can speak more intelligently with your Vet when something’s amiss. (Never rely entirely on pet health information you read on the Net. You should always consult your Vet if there is any concern about your pet’s well-being.)
  • Comparison shop online for pet insurance and purchase when you find the best coverage at the most reasonable cost.
  • Read articles and watch videos as to how to train your dog or cat. (I never had any success at training a cat but that may be just me!)
  • Take pictures and post them on Social Media showing off your beautiful dog or cat. (Or, horse, goat, sheep – you get the “picture.”)
  • Purchase toys, food, bedding, medicine and other pet-related items online at a discount and usually with a better selection than brick and mortar stores. (You can do just that by clicking the banner below. Yes, Keystone Computer Concepts may be compensated if you purchase after clicking.)
  • Again, if you’re out of town and need pet food, etc., you can search for the nearest pet store using a number of smartphone, smartwatch and tablet apps.
  • Also when traveling, you can search for dog parks, pet-friendly restaurants, pet-friendly hotels, dog beaches and more!

You see? There are lots of things you can do online when it comes to your pet. Wait! I have an idea! Let’s create a gallery of our pets right here on the 4KCC Blog. Just email a picture of your dog or cat along with his or her name and in a future post, I’ll post them for all to see. Send your pet’s information to pet#4kcc.com. (Replace the # symbol with the @ symbol before you try to send.) Let’s see how many pet pictures we can get!
