Fake BLM Email

As I’ve stated many times over the years and as I pointed out in the form of a warning in my recent YouTube video (“Using Technology To Fight Racism”), scammers will take every negative opportunity to try to steal your money. Whether it’s a hurricane, a tornado, a flood or civil unrest, these thieves will do what they can to line their pockets with your cash.

Case in point: obviously, you know “Black Lives Matter” has been THE major news story for weeks now. Perhaps you have your own opinion on the subject and you’d like to voice that opinion privately? Scammers are counting on that. Here’s an example of an email being sent out:

Black Lives Email fake email with attachment.

You can see, there’s an attachment that appears to be a Word document. When you open it, you’ll be asked to “Enable Editing.” If you click to make that happen, that’s when real havoc occurs. First, the TrickBot trojan will install and then it will download more malicious “stuff.” These additional pieces of malware can steal security keys, passwords, files and much more. You might even find yourself facing ransomware.

Bottom line? If you see this or a similar email in your Inbox, delete it. Don’t click on the attachment and don’t save the attachment to your computer.
