One Ringy Dingy

If your smartphone is like mine, it seems to always be ringing! Sometimes, it’s not convenient to drop everything and answer the phone. As a means of helping me decide which ringing of the phone needs my immediate attention, I set up special rings for particular people. This way, if they call me, I can know who it is just by hearing the phone ring instead of having to look at the phone. This is extremely useful when driving.

Here are two examples: one of my daughters-in-law is from Mississippi. I use Faith Hill’s song “Mississippi Girl” as her ringtone. My other daughter-in-law’s name is Sara so I use Starship’s song, “Sara.” In either case, their distinctive ringtone let’s me know I should answer.

Both iPhones and Androids have a selection of built-in ring tones but if you want a particular song or sound effect, you may need to purchase it from the App Store or Google Play Store. The good news is that ringtones are normally pretty inexpensive and easy to download and install.

If you aren’t already using special ringtones for family and other important callers, my challenge today is for you to give it a try! Let me know in the comments below how you make out.

    1. Joan…thanks for asking about this. I’ll be creating a video in a few days which will walk you through the process. I’ll let you know here when it’s up and ready to view. ~John
