In the last post, I explained the first method of trying to fix a Windows 10 or a Windows 11 problem – System Restore. (https://www.4kcc.com/blog/2018/11/30/oh-no-2/
Other Recovery Options
Windows 10 and 11 give you several other recovery options, the first one is “Reset this PC.” When you use this option, you are given a choice of keeping your data or removing it. However, other things happen when you choose this option. This option can come up on its own when you’re having an issue or you can get to it by typing in the search “Reset this PC.”
Resetting the PC is a major operation and should not be used unless every other option fails to get your computer running smoothly. “Reset this PC” removes all programs you’ve installed. Let me say that again – “Reset this PC” removes ALL programs you’ve installed. That means anti-virus, online backup, Quicken, and other programs you installed will be removed. It’s like reinstalling Windows 10 or 11 from scratch. You should NOT use this method without checking with us first.
Warning Repeat
As I mentioned above, when you’re having trouble with Windows 10 or 11, you may get a window from the operating system suggesting that you should try resetting your computer to fix the issues. Again, you should NOT do this without checking with us first.
