Do you own an iPhone or an iPad? Do you often visit a particular site – everyday, perhaps? Did you know you can put a shortcut on your main screen menu so that you can go directly to the site? Yep, you can!
If you look at the screenshot above, you’ll see that I have an icon that is labeled “4KCC |Blog.” If I click on that icon, my blog home page will open up in Safari in one easy step. Yes, I could open Safari, go to my favorites, find my blog and then click on it. But this is so much easier!
How did I get the shortcut onto my main screen menu? There are six easy steps and here they are:
Step #1 – First, I opened Safari and in the address bar at the top, I typed “4kcc.com/blog” (without the quotes). Once I did that, I clicked GO at the bottom.
In Step #2, I waited for the page to load.
Step #3 – After I accepted the Privacy & Cookies policy, I clicked on the rectangle with the up arrow at the bottom of the page. (This is called the Share icon.) Note: on the iPad, the Share icon appears in the top right corner of Safari.
Step #4 – After clicking on the Share icon, a list appeared at the bottom of the screen and I scrolled down the list until I found “Add to Home Screen.” Note: on the iPad, you scroll across to find “Add to Home Screen.”
Step #5 – When I clicked on “Add to Home Screen” a new window appeared allowing me to name my shortcut.
Step #6 – Finally, I clicked DONE. When I did, that window closed and my shortcut appeared on my home screen menu just as you saw in the very top picture on this post. This icon can be moved from one home screen to another, placed inside a folder or deleted, just like any other icon.
That’s how easy it is to add a shortcut to a web page and save yourself a number of steps when accessing that URL address.
